2023 Hill Block Riesling

"A tight restrained wine with a strong core of acid and attractive steely citrus fruit characters."
This Riesling is complex and textural in style and shows a zingy acidity seldom found in Riesling wines from Barossa Valley floor. A favourite of Jesseca Kies (6th generation of the Kies Family) this wine pairs well with spicy foods. 12.5% alc/vol.
TASTING NOTES: The colour is brilliant, bright pale straw. The nose boasts luscious peach, pineapple, pear and lime. On the palate this wine shows, lemon, lime, pear and stone fruit, it has a crisp clean finish with great texture. Food match: Vermicelli noodle salad.

As a general rule Riesling from the Barossa Valley is not considered in the same light as Riesling from the Valley next door. This Riesling calls for a rethink. It has low alcohol, great length and cleansing acidity with definite ageing potential. In short - stunning value. The previous vintage sold out - I can fully understand why. This is destined for the same fate - it will have roller skates on it at the Cellar Door.
